Dear Parents/Guardians:
I want to thank you for your continued support! Here are a few things about our classroom to remember.
Orange Folders: Your child's Thursday Folder is very important. All communication from the school will be coming home in this folder. It is extremely important that everything is removed and reviewed and then the folder should be sent back on Friday morning. Daily folders (any color) are sent home each night to store homework or to send home corrected papers. It is also a folder I check every morning for notes from home.
Homework: Homework is sent home on Mondays and should be returned on Fridays. Along with the homework each week students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes a night.
R.E.D Program: Students will be given a book in his/her R.E.D folder. They will read it at home until they can read it without any mistakes. When they can read the book fluently- they can bring it in to me for a new one.
Library Books: Each first grader is allowed and encouraged to take out a library book on his or her library day . They are due on the next day your child has library. If your child would like more time with a book, they can just renew it each week for additional time. If your child loses a book, they will need to reimburse the library for the cost of the book.
Birthdays: Your child’s special day is important to us. We do many things to recognize birthdays in class; hats, new pencils, stickers, and sitting in the "birthday chair." We know this is a very special day for each child. However if you plan on having a birthday party and want to invite students in the class- you must include an invitation for EVERY STUDENT. If you cannot invite every student in the classroom, then invitations cannot be given during the school day. Sorry for the inconvenience.
